The Rivers We Fish in Gunnison

The two private sections of the Gunnison River we fish on are the Cebolla creek and the Lake Fork Arm of the Gunnison. Both are nestled in the National Forest and offer trophy trout fishing! The best part about fishing these areas is the seclusion and low pressured fish. The Gunnison River also has many low pressured areas, but a good portion of the river does run next to highway 50. This can be a problem when you travel all the way to Colorado, and try to get away from the crowds. Many times if the locals or day trippers don’t get ya, the DOW will be checking your license. This can be very disruptive and take away from the serenity associated with Fly Fishing in Colorado. So take some time and explore the map of the Cebolla Creek and the Lake Fork Arm and look to the public fishing areas.
These places can take some time to drive to, but you can spend your whole day in silence and enjoy the outdoors, away from the Western World. We too appreciate this and offer trips and information on these secluded areas. Maps will be included on our site or you can look at Google Map and the BLM maps for more information. High way 50 is the main route to the Gunnison River, Lake Fork Arm and Cebolla creek. Gunnison will be your home base so start there when planning a journey or trip. The Gunnison River can be fished from Crested Butte to Almont, through Gunnison and down to Blue Mesa Reservoir. If you have any more questions, contact us!
